My passion for teaching started with a love of the water and a deep belief that swimming can change lives.
Over the years, I saw how traditional swim lessons didn't always meet the needs of every child. Too often, swimmers who needed a little more patience, flexibility, or individualized support were expected to fit into a system that wasn't built for them.
I knew there had to be a better way.
That's why I created Cove & Currents—a place where children are met with patience, encouragement, and instruction that's adapted to who they are, not who they're expected to be.
Every swimmer deserves the opportunity to build confidence, develop lifelong water safety skills, and experience the joy of success in the water.

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
Hi, I'm Auralei.
Swimming has always been more than a skill to me.
It's confidence. Independence. Safety. Joy. It's the moment a fearful child realizes they can do something they never believed possible.
After years of working with children of all abilities—including swimmers with autism, ADHD, sensory differences, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and those who simply need a little more patience—I learned something that became the foundation of Cove & Currents:
There is no "right" way to learn to swim.
Every child enters the water with their own strengths, challenges, and pace. The best lessons don't ask children to fit into a program—they're built around the child.
My teaching philosophy is simple:
Connection comes before confidence.
Confidence comes before independence.
When children feel safe, understood, and supported, incredible things begin to happen. I've celebrated first floats, first breaths, first independent swims, and countless moments when a child discovered they were capable of more than they imagined.
Whether your swimmer is overcoming fear, building essential water safety skills, or developing advanced techniques, my goal is always the same: to create a calm, encouraging environment where every child can grow with confidence.
Because swimming isn't just about what happens in the pool—it's about the confidence children carry with them long after they climb out.

MEET THE owner
Hi, I’m Tim,
As a parent of an autistic and severely disabled child, I know how difficult it can be to keep them safe. My wife and I have experienced the whole range of behaviors and challenges from sleep issues, constant risk of elopement, extensive medical issues, and the violence. I understand first hand that all of this requires constant attention and a total commitment while taking the physical and emotional punches for decades.
My daughter has always been most relaxed in the water, but that always came with risk. During any time at the pool or lake, she would try to strip off a life jacket and run blindly at the water. My goal is to provide a place that can provide instruction to help children like mine stay safe.
